ORC Week 5 Coastal Inspired Living Room and Dining Room Refresh at New Pair of Wings

Fall ORC week 5!

Happy November friends and welcome to week 5 of the 6 week One Room Challenge hosted by the generous Linda @oneroomchallenge.com and sponsored by Better Homes and Gardens! I’m so delighted to once again participate as a guest participant.  Be sure to head over to Linda’s place and check out the over 200 guest participants and 20 featured participants for so much decor and diy inspiration every week of the challenge!

Didn’t the floors turn out gorgeous?

This was a big week for mum and I. Our washing machine died on Monday, but mum got over to Lowes that afternoon and we were delighted to have our new machine delivered by 11am the next morning. It worked out well,  the whole process did steal about 2 days for working on projects, but we got beyond the flooring. All the baseboards, transition boards, caulking and more caulking is finally done!

New sconces are in and the gallery wall is almost done!

We got started on furniture arrangement in the living room, and it’s just almost perfect.  The sconces have been painted black, installed on the wall, the cord covers are on, lightbulbs in, and the new remote switch that controls them is working like a dream!  Also, we got started on the gallery wall for mums painting collection. There are a few more tweaks I want to make to it, but it’s almost complete, and that makes me sooo happy cause gallery walls are hard y’all!

The vintage Norwegian wallpaper turned out so beautiful!

Wednesday was wallpaper day.  We got the entryway/dining room wall finished and the wallpaper really makes a big statement!  I’m not gonna lie, I usually don’t go for patterns or large prints, but I love the pretty blue and white and it makes this small space look so much taller and bigger!

Yummy blue velvet for the dining room chairs!

The plan for tomorrow is to recover the dining room chairs with some beautiful blue velvet fabric and then work on getting the new hutch in place.

Charlie the cat loves the vintage Jay Yang fabric remnants I found on e-bay.

A couple of weeks ago, I was doing some shopping on E-bay and found some vintage Jay Yang remnant fabrics.  I fell in love with the lovely bright florals and the price was right on a couple of my favorites.  They arrived last week and I can’t wait to make some pretty new pillows out of them!

We’ve got some beautiful white linen textured window treatments for both rooms, so I need to put up the curtain rod in the livingroom and make sure everything fits right.  There are a few small paint projects, trim to put up around the dining room and entryway walls, and lots of styling and tweaking, but y’all  know that’s the fun part!

At the moment I’m thinking if I can get beyond the upholstery and window treatments, we’ll be golden for the finish next week, but life has a way of throwing curve balls, so we’re just gonna keep gettin er done and going with the flow and putting our lives in Gods hands!

Thank you dear friends for stopping by!  Mum and I appreciate you following along and joining us here!  Have a great week and we’ll hope to see you at the ORC finale!

Much love from Mum and M – oxo

  1. Marianne, that wallpaper is stunning and I love your floors too! I love the way you have your gallery wall arranged and the sconces made a big difference as well. I can’t wait to see how your upholstery project comes together. You guys have done so much work so far and it really shows. Great job on everything. Hugs, CoCo
