Hello friends! Welcome to week 4 of the spring 2017 One Room Challenge, hosted by Linda at Calling It Home blog.
After all the hard work in the ministry over last two months and last week being especially busy and full, mum leaving for up north again on Monday, and all that leading to feeling a little lost and sad, my body and brain just sort of frizzled this week, so I’ve been hibernating, sleeping in, and going almost no where until today when I had to leave the house for some supplies. BUT I did get my hands dirty this week and I got most of the painting done. Also, while I was out today at the thrift store I found the most delightful treats! Just exactly what I needed to make things work and at great thrift store prices! I’m still figuring it all out, so I hope y’all don’t mind if I keep that as a surprise until later in the challenge. 😉
The wall paint in the entryway is white, which has totally changed the feel of the space, but everything is basically upside down at our small house and there’s not much else to share for pretty photos, so I’m just gonna go with my favorite inspiration photo for this project from Southern Living their Vintage Style 2017 edition. I love the mix of white and natural wood, wicker, capiz and blues for relaxed, calm, coastal vibes. That’s the feel that I’m going for in this makeover, hoping to keep costs low and accomplish most of the work with what God can help me do with my own two hands and sooper fuzzy brain! Haha!

Anywho, tomorrow after service work, I need to pick up some wall paper paste as the grass cloth wallpaper doesn’t come prepasted. The genuine grass cloth wall paper was one double roll that I found at a great price on Amazon.com. At $33 it was at least 1/3 the cost of other real grass cloth and I only needed the one double roll for this project, so it was practically perfect!
I bought it online, I read all the reviews I could find, but still I wasnt sure exactly what it would look like. I’m very happy with the color and quality! it’s really very pretty, like a dark cream/light khaki in color, not too much variation in shade, just a soft warm natural texture to contrast with the cool white and blue.
I’m a little nervous as I’ve never hung grass cloth before, but there’s not a lot of wall space in the dining room and I’m hoping the job will go quickly. For weeks 5 and 6 it’ll be about painting some of the furniture, and bringing in all the pretties and styling everything.
Please friends go over to Linda’s place Calling It Home blog and check out the gorgeous inspiration from the House Beautiful sponsored decorators and the over 200 guest participants of the spring 2017- 6 week One Room Challenge!
