One Room Challenge Bedroom Makeover Week 3

One Room Challenge Bedroom Makeover Week 3

Hello friends!  Welcome to week 3 of the One Room Challenge hosted by the incredible Linda callingithome.com and sponsored by House Beautiful!  I’m only just a guest participant, but I love the challenge of doing over one room in 6 weeks and I love watching the amazing talent of the invited designers and all the 200 ish guest participants!  So much gorgeous inspiration, so be sure to go check everybody out!

It’s been a busy, happy week here in our world. Mum and I made a trip out of town on Monday and spent the day looking at homes for sale. We only had a few hours in between traveling to actually look, but we’ve been working on our B list and we have plans to return next week to look again.  It’s scary and exciting at the same time, but I think it’s very possible that we might be making a move very soon.

Change doesn’t come easily to me these days and though we’ve never considered our current house to be our forever home, every time I seriously think about making a move, even a local one, I have little panic attacks inside. I know it’s kind of self defeating, but that’s the way anxiety works with me these days.  Sooo, I’m working on embracing what I believe will be a change for the better, and really putting everything in God’s hands and preparing to make that leap of faith when he opens the door for us!

So you’re thinking, “What does any of this have to do with the One Room Challenge?”  Well, if we’re moving from here in a few weeks I don’t want to over personalize my bedroom, and I really love my wallpaper and other design items, so I’m thinking I’d really like to take them with me to use at our new home.  So that changes the current plans a bit for now.  If we decide not to move, mum and I can always do a weekender and wall paper and paint like they used to do on Decorating Spaces! Remember that show with Paige Davis as host?  I used to looooove it! It might kill us, but it does sound like fun to try a weekend decor marathon if we need to!

Love the beautiful lux feel, gold accents and pattern mix in this room from classyclutter.net.

Meanwhile, I’ve found some gorgeous inspiration on classyclutter.net or @classyclutter on instagram that helped me make some changes to my bedroom theme. I’ve never really been comfortable with leopard, but I’ve decided to add in some animal print fabric and I also found some interesting lace that I’m thinking of layering over some blue fabric for a more neutral headboard cover.  I’m a little nervous about this so we’ll just have to see how everything works out!

This room is also from classyclutter.net. That gorgeous headboard has me thinking about layering lace over blue fabric for my headboard cover. The gold mirror, chinnoise lamp and pillow pattern.mixing have me all googly eyed too!

Well y’all that’s most of the decor news, my old birch dresser and little nightstand will both be getting a refresh and lots of little tweaks to make it all come together in the end, but that’s the fun part!

I heard this expression the other day from Hannah Hart: “reckless optimism”.  The idea is that whether or not thing’s work out as planned or they totally tank, I’m gonna do my best to have fun while doing it.  It’s the journey not the goal that’s important.  The goal can always get changed or be moved back due to circumstances beyond my control, so what’s most important is how we get there!

So have a wonderful week and a joyful journey dear friends, and thank you so much for being here and following mum and I on our decor adventures!

Much love from Mum and M!
